Animeyed: Flora Borsi’s Strikingly Surreal Combination of Animal & Human Eyes
Flora Borsi is a young, talented photographic artist from Budapest, Hungary. She specializes in digital photography and is an expert photo manipulator. Flora Borsi’s surreal images have a running theme, they are usually focused on relationships, emotions, dreams and identity.
Borsi’s work most often feature a woman with the eye playing an important role in the photo’s. Depending on the concept, Borsi plays with revealing or hiding the eyes of her model/s. Flora Borsi’s aim is to break the conventionally held boundaries and visualize the physically impossible through photo manipulations.
She has held numerous solo exhibitions across Europe and USA. One of her notable participation was in Saatchi’s art gallery. Her art work was the face of Adobe Photoshop in 2014.
The photo shoot for the current theme titled ‘Animeyed’ was done in an hour. Borsi took a photo of herself with a matching hairstyle and makeup. She wanted to bring out the similarity between the animals and humans. Borsi focused on the eyes and through it, She sought to bring the composite likeness of animals.
Flora Borsi began with rabbit and from thereon fixated on the ‘right eye’ set up. Flora Borsi’s Animeyed looks at the relationship between humans and animals. The exquisite and unique beauty of each animal. She also tried to explore the human identity through the fusion pictures.
