Tanhaiyan Web Series : A Review Of The Trailer
The news of Barun Sobti and 4 Lions collaborating for a web series had created a flutter among Barun Sobti’s fans who had missed him on screen. Each snippet of news, rumors were avidly read and gulped down, this news ignited the flames of anticipation. Many were waiting impatiently for the trailer, teaser or BTS from the shoot spot. The 4 Lions obligingly provided the fodder for growling fandom but the demand for more was always there and one of the demand was for a trailer or teaser featuring two of the hottest stars from Tellywood Barun Sobti and Surbhi Jyothi. The trailer did come, the web series named Tanhaiyan released its trailer on September 30.
With rich production values, the big-budget serial hints at an intense love story between two individuals Haider & Meera.
The loneliest moment in someone’s life is when they are watching their whole world fall apart, and all they can do is stare blankly.
—F. Scott Fitzgerald
Tanhaiyan, as the name suggests is about loneliness, loneliness of an individual, loneliness of the soul. Haider a consummate casanova who can cherry pick the girls he wants, who plays the field with considerable skill, who has girls hanging on to his hands is seared by the loneliness. A streak of emotion that leaves his life empty like a Sahara desert. He tries to fill it with colorful flowers but the mirrors reflect only tanhaiyan. He becomes the onlooker who watches the life passing by, imprisoned by his fears, his emotions, he stares from within his prison walls, desolate and alone.
Into his barren life enters Meera, a girl who is not afraid of life. A girl who can give herself, her very heart, her soul to the man she loves. The inevitable happens, the two, Haider and Meera are mutually attracted but can the claws of tanhaiyan entrenched deep within the soul of Haider relinquish its hold? What form will those fears, insecurities take?
Barun Sobti & Surbhi Jyoti have proven their credentials for intense love stories in ‘ Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon’ and ‘ Qubool Hai’ respectively. So there is going to be a good acting all around, with no pressures from the channels for TRP, I am hopeful that 4 Lions get to tell their story at their own pace and time. DOP Hrishikesh’s work is as classy as ever. The team of Gul Khan and her writers have always managed to hit the spot with passionate love stories, Tanhaiyan runs true to the script, with its passion and volatile emotions, it runs true to the spirit of 4 Lions.
Humor is another trademark of 4 Lions, which strangely was missing in the trailer but then when you are focused on showing the intensity, the interjection of humor may dilute the burgeoning emotions. Apart from Haider & Meera’s love story, there has been a complete blackout about the role of Karan Wahi, the third pillar of Tanhaiyan. Though it has been said that he will not play a villain in the love story, his role does evoke curiosity. Will he be introduced with his own trailer?
The trailer showcases the journey of Haider & Meera from their initial stages of meeting- friendship-attraction- relationship-escapism- heartbreak- redemption, the stuff 4 Lions are renowned for but will Tanhaiyan have anything different from the norm – one has to wait and see.
